Looking for a place to go during this year’s Easter holidays? Join us at Esplora where we will be transforming into a hub for all things extra-terrestrial. From astronauts to galaxies, rocket ships, satellites and lunar rovers… at the science centre this week you’ll find anything related to space!
Visitors will get the chance to discover space’s hidden mysteries during an event that will have you reach for the stars! And for all those space enthusiasts out there, we’re creating a special opportunity to meet up with local researchers and professionals working in space research to learn more about their work and the possibilities there is in this field.
Journey to Space will be held on the following days:
The Opening hours will be from 10am till 5pm.
Entrance Tickets will be available at the door on a first-come first-served basis. Price Tickets can be viewed from here. Entrance Fee includes one free output. For additional outputs, an extra charge of €1 per person is applicable.
Science Shows/Workshops
Take Off! – How did humanity go from flying kites to launching rockets into space? Fasten your seatbelts as we fly up and away to explore the science of flight and discover how scientists successfully travel to space in this interactive science show. Ages: 5+ years.
Lunar Mission 1.0 – We’re going back to the moon! Join our mission to code our lunar rover. Use your mathematical skills to complete a set of tasks in preparation for humans to go back to the moon. Are you up for the challenge? Ages: 7+ years.
3, 2, 1… Lift Off! – Do you have what it takes to be an aerospace engineer? Build your very own air powered rocket and put it to the test in this hands-on workshop. Its successful lift off is in your hands! Ages: 5+ years.
Planet Bootcamp – Calling all trainee astronauts! This is your chance to explore the fantastic features of our solar system like Venus’s violent volcanoes and Saturn’s rocky rings! Are you ready for bootcamp? Ages: 3-6 years.
EsploraPlanetarium
The EsploraPlanetarium will take centre-stage during this event. There will be plenty of Planetarium Films/Live Shows to choose from and the Universe Exhibition will be open to all visitors and not only to Planetarium Ticket Holders.

In the Planetarium building visitors will also be able to partake in the below hands-on activity:
Curioscope VR – Watch out as the planets of the solar system come to life thanks to our virtual reality Curioscope posters. Explore the layers on Earth’s crust and visit the dark side of the moon!
Other Activities
Other hands-on activities that will be hosted around Esplora include:
Travel our Solar System with Sphero – Travel around our solar system with the help of Sphero. During this fun interactive activity you will have the opportunity to code our small robot and visit the planets in the solar system.

Working with Space Gloves – Do you think its easy for astronauts to wear space gloves and go about their daily routine? Put on these bulky gloves and try to perform certain basic tasks. You’ll discover that its a much greater challenge than you imagine!
Apart from all the above science shows and workshops, there will be a special section reserved for local Space Science Researchers. Get the opportunity to meet up with these researchers and ask questions about their work. They are ready to discuss what they do with anyone who is interested to learn more about their chosen career and the important research that they do.
