KurżitàJiem

Curiosity is a driving force that lies within a hungry mind. When we encourage our children to ask valuable questions, we stimulate their curiosity and this gives birth to the joy of exploration, which in turn drives children to learn new concepts, think critically and exercise reason.

Does your child have a curious appetite for STEM subjects, meaning Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics? Would you be interested in delving a little deeper to discover what your child’s keen interest in STEM subjects can eventually lead to? Do you picture your child pursuing a career carved from a STEM subject? Would you like your children to engage with STEM professionals and get a taste of what it is like to work in these industries? We will find out all of this while having fun so here is how.

Our dedicated Education Team at Esplora is continuously scouting for new ways to engage children in STEM subjects, and KurżitàJiem is a living example of such endeavours. Due to its increasing popularity, KurżitàJiem has become a regular, annual event sought after by parents and guardians who take a personal stake in their children’s career choice, and equally by children who are inquisitive about STEM subjects and their respective career paths.

When:

Thursday 9th May and Friday 10th May for school groups

Saturday 11th May and Sunday 12th May 2024 for the general public

Time:

Thurs & Fri from 9am till 3pm.

Sat & Sun from 10am till 5pm.

Event Prices:

On the 9th and 10th of May, science shows, workshops, or planetarium films will not be offered to encourage students to take full advantage of the opportunity to engage with the different exhibitors.

Over the weekend (11th and 12th of May), Esplora science shows and workshops will still be offered alongside free admission to the Planetarium interactive exhibits and engagement with the exhibitors in attendance.  Tickets will be available from the Esplora reception on a first-come, first-served basis.

KurżitàJiem portrays the results of research conducted by local researchers and provides a platform for children to inquire about their career paths. The event itself will take place at Esplora in an environment which by its very nature entices curiosity, creativity, and imagination! Expect to meet exhibitors from research-performing organisations, government bodies and NGOs, and interact with them via engaging, hands-on activities which will undoubtedly spur a keen interest in STEM subjects. This interactive style of engagement will aim to provide KurżitàJiem subscribers with an insight into unconventional STEM careers.

Besides enticing future STEM professionals to pursue a career in STEM, we will also endeavour to raise awareness about the ongoing STEM research conducted locally by researchers and academics at the University of Malta (UM) and The Malta College of Arts, Science, and Technology (MCAST), as well as the involvement of NGOs in STEM research. This event will also provide STEM professionals with an opportunity to display their research or career opportunities and narrow the gap between people and the scientific world.

During these thematic days, everyone will be able to discover different projects and interact with STEM professionals to learn more about how research helps us understand better the relevance of STEM subjects in better equipping future generations with the skills needed for future employment opportunities that are mostly governed by the principles underlying STEM.
