In 2025 the external board of evaluators selected the following nine projects for funding:
Flight for Insight: Monitoring Yellow-legged Gulls to Guide Conservation Actions
BirdLife Malta
The Yellow-legged Gull is frequently found injured by members of the public and brought to BirdLife for care. Through this project, BirdLife will continue engaging with the public after the release of the birds by monitoring where the gulls go after recovery.

Ejja Skopri! Umoriżmu u Divertiment mas-suġġetti STEM
Żebbuġ Local Council
The natural open areas in Marsalforn and Żebbuġ will host a fun trail where children solve puzzles and overcome challenges to get to the next phase of the game. The event will culminate in a humorous show that brings STEM subjects to life and brings science to life in a different way.

Orchids & Allies: A Community-led Eco-Science Campaign
Green House
In this project, Green House and citizen scientists will collect observational data and perform ecological analysis for the conservation of orchid populations, in so doing also studying species interactions with pollinators.

Cosmic Connections: Bridging Communities Through Astronomy
Eastern Regional Council
In the most densely built-up area of Malta, this project will encourage participants to look at the sky and learn about the universe. The project will raise awareness about light pollution and invite several experts including a researcher from CERN to talk to the community.

All Eyes on Comino: Citizen Science for Comino’s Hidden Wildlife
Friends of the Earth
Participants will be invited to appreciate Comino beyond the Blue Lagoon. The general public will be able to learn about wildlife and the natural environment in the Natura 2000 protected island through guided walks, wildlife cameras and a stargazing event.

Fireworks at Work : An Appreciation of the Scientific, Cultural, Social, Artistic and Environmental dimensions of Maltese Fireworks
Malta Pyrotechnic Association
The projects aims to improve health and safety and encourage the adoption of environmentally friendly pyrotechnic practices by creating online courses that are shaped by the participants. Anyone interested in the Maltese tradition of fireworks is welcome to participate.

EcoBot Explorers: Coding, Creating & Growing a Greener Future
Sacred Heart Junior School
Primary school students will learn STEM skills through robotics and in the process learn about our food system and ecosystems. They will plant crops in a school garden equipped with sensors and have a student-led garden showcase. Harvested produce will be donated to foodbanks.

MakerSpace; where STEM ideas take flight
Rabat Primary School
The school will create a makerspace for all students and teachers. Instead of learning things by heart in a classroom, in the makerspace, the students will have the opportunity to discover, experiment and learn independently and as a group.

EcoBuilders: Greener Tomorrow
San Gorg Preca College
Students will learn about all the ins and outs of building sustainable cities through LEGO Spike Prime kits. With the help of these kits, teenagers will learn about sustainable systems and climate responsibility while fostering inclusion, with a focus on women’s participation in STEM.
