At Esplora Interactive Science Centre we are launching a new concept for our events! Introducing the Thematic Months, where different themes will be celebrated each month! We are starting off with a Colour Splash in September followed by Ready, Set, CODE! in October, Think It, Make It! in November and Festive Science in December.
Whether you love to create new things with a few simple household items, or you’re more interested in the science of colours – at Esplora you will surely find something interesting for you to do.
Colour Splash
September is Pride month and this inspired us to explore the science of colours. Although Pride march is not happening this year, that does not mean we should not still celebrate diversity and inclusivity… with a splash of COLOUR!
Join us at Esplora any time during the month of September for our colour-themed activities below.
Science on the Spot
Get creative with Coloured Shadows (Idea for All Ages). Participate in this colourful activity and combine your performance skills with your creativity ones in order to create your own coloured shadows. Answers questions such as: How can we create coloured shadows? How can we create long or short shadows?
Themed Science Shows
The Magnificent Balloon Show (Ages: 5+): During the month of September you can also join us in our Balloon Lab where together we will discover various cool experiments that you can do with balloons. Do you think you can inflate a balloon simply by using a pump? Well think again – there are so many ways to do this and we will show you some examples during this fantastic show!
Colours Everywhere (Ages: 6+): The Maltese summer is normally dominated by fireworks. But have you ever wondered what determines the colours of these fireworks? Do you know how the solution that changes the colour of the traffic lights works? And why do bubbles change their colour? Colours is the main theme of this cool show. Join us for a series of colourful experiments – they are so much fun for kids and adults alike!
Body Wonders (Ages: 6+): Do you know what goes inside our bodies? You can now find out with Body Wonders, a very interesting science show that helps you discover how our essential body organs work and how food is processed through our digestive system.
Investigation Zones
These popular Investigation Zones are designed to spark visitors’ curiosity and help them get into more detail on specific subjects. During the month of September you may unleash your inner scientist and help us investigate our Colourful Kitchen Chemistry (Idea for All Ages). What makes some food sour and other sweet? Take a look at your own kitchen. Can you discover which of the food and drinks you have are acidic or alkaline?
Take this opportunity to also revisit our Exhibit Galleries and explore over 200+ interactive exhibits and check out the Planetarium Universe Exhibition showcasing our solar system as well as life on the International Space Station.
Keep an eye on our Facebook page @esploramalta for more details on these thematic months activities.
