Join us in celebrating #ErasmusDays by learning about experiences from Esplora employees who participated in various Erasmus+ Projects, thanks to EUPA Malta. This event will showcase the advantages of Erasmus+, a programme that allows individuals to explore new cultures, enhance language skills, boost employability, and provide many more opportunities.
Esplora too has benefitted from the Erasmus+ Programme, specifically through the project ‘Learning for All: Upskilling for Greater Impact and Reach’, which helped members of our staff who participated to develop science engagement initiatives targeting youth, and to improve their competence in developing and evaluating community outreach events. Participating members of our staff also attended training events hosted by Trinity College, in Dublin, Ireland, and by Ars Electronica Science Centre, in Linz, Austria.

My job-shadowing experience at Trinity College was nothing short of exhilarating. During my time there, I had the incredible opportunity to increase my knowledge about evaluation techniques within science centres, master the art of storytelling, and learn the intricacies of creating and developing zines. The trainees were exceptionally friendly and welcoming, making the entire experience not only memorable, but also profoundly impactful. This journey truly succeeded in narrowing the gap between scientific academic research and science communication, providing me with invaluable insights and skills that I will carry with me throughout my career. I am immensely grateful for this enriching experience.
This spring, I had the opportunity to join the team at the ‘Science and Society Research Group’ at Trinity College. The research groups focus on several science communication fields, such as public engagement and citizen science. I myself had already had the pleasure of engaging with these topics, however up until my experience in Ireland, I had had little opportunity to engage with the research side of things. This training provided me with a much-needed opportunity to bridge the gap between practice and research. The Group prepared an intense week of various talks and activities, which provided for a fruitful experience. I am excited to develop the ideas and perspectives that were born throughout this collaborative experience and look forward to continuing these new connections I have formed.
My Erasmus+ training experience at Trinity College significantly broadened my horizons in the field of science education and communication. Being in a different environment, even if only briefly, provided me with a fresh perspective on my work, especially when surrounded by like-minded peers. The sharing of ideas and best practices was enriching for me personally and an invaluable part of the training which empowered me, and gave me increased motivation for my work back here at Esplora.
