In 2015, the United Nations introduced the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a blueprint for a better and more sustainable future for all. These 17 interconnected global goals address a wide range of challenges – from poverty and inequality to climate change and environmental degradation. At ESPLORA, we are proud to contribute to several of these SDGs, demonstrating our commitment to creating positive change in our community, and beyond.
Education for All (SDG 4)
Education is the foundation for progress and, at ESPLORA, we embody SDG 4 by providing quality educational experiences. Through interactive exhibits, workshops, captivating science shows and various other activities, we empower individuals of all ages to explore the wonders of science and technology. By fostering curiosity and critical thinking, we contribute to the development of lifelong learners and innovative problem-solvers.
Health and Well-Being (SDG 3)
Promoting good health and well-being is at the heart of our mission. Our engaging workshops inspire healthy lifestyles, instilling valuable knowledge about the human body and encouraging positive habits. By addressing the importance of physical and mental well-being, we support SDG 3’s vision of ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all.
Climate Action (SDG 13)
In a world facing climate challenges, education is a powerful tool for change. At ESPLORA we shed light on climate issues through informative exhibits, workshops and science shows, which emphasise the urgency of climate action. By fostering this awareness, we contribute to SDG 13’s mission to combat the climate crisis and its impacts.
Reducing Inequalities (SDG 10)
Inclusivity is a core value for us. Our events, such as our monthly Sensory Friendly Hours and our support for the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Scheme, embody our commitment to SDG 10. We strive to create a diverse and welcoming environment, where everyone feels valued and included, working towards a society that embraces equality and diversity.
Life Below Water (SDG 14)
Through engaging programmes, we shed light on the importance of preserving marine life. By showcasing the beauty and significance of oceans, we contribute to SDG 14’s call to conserve and sustainably use marine resources.
Sustainability in our Daily Operations
Sustainability is a key principle guiding our daily operations. We prioritise responsible waste management and recycling, reducing our environmental footprint. By consciously selecting materials and practices, we align with SDGs that address responsible consumption and production (SDG 12), and the need to protect terrestrial ecosystems (SDG 15).
Malta Sustainable Action Days 2023
This September, we’re excited to participate in the Malta Sustainable Action Days 2023. Through various activities, we’ll be addressing multiple SDGs, expanding our reach and impact. These sessions will focus on making a difference in our communities, further embodying our commitment to sustainable development.
