Join us to celebrate Pride 2023 at Esplora and immerse yourself in a scientific feast of colour. Throughout this event, the interactive science centre will be lit up with different colours. Visitors will get the chance to explore the wonders of the rainbow, play with shadows, step inside a human-sized bubble, see coloured flames and get artistic by creating colourful designs using common household items. And for those who love theatrical performances, Esplora will also be hosting Aura – Musical in the Dark, in collaboration with Teatru Malta.
Event dates and opening hours
Dates: Saturday 9 September and Sunday 10 September 2023, and then from Tuesday 12 September till Sunday 17 September 2023.
Please note that on Monday 11 September, Esplora will be closed.
Opening hours: Weekdays between 9:00 and 15:00 and weekends between 10:00 and 17:00.

The entrance fee includes ONE free output. For additional outputs, an additional charge of €2 per person is applicable.
Kindly be advised that access to the captivating musical experience, Aura – Musical in the Dark, is not covered by the Esplora entrance fee. Colours Everywhere – Science Show
Description: Who can resist a science show full of colourful experiments? Watch how a bouquet of flowers can change colour! Fuel children’s curiosity with this playful interaction with chemistry. Can we pour out all the colours of the rainbow? Could we make fireworks in our lab? A science show that will surely leave you with a sense of wonder about what else there is to discover about the world around us!

Beautiful Bubbles – Science Show
Description: This interactive show features bubbles of all sizes going up, this way, that way, and all over the place … with a little help from the audience! Find out what bubbles are made of and how they are formed, and you might even get the chance to step inside our famous human-sized bubble.
Ages: 3-6
Let’s See Colour – Interactive Storytelling Session
Description: This is a workshop specifically developed for toddlers. Since the senses are very important in this stage of development, we chose to focus on the sense of sight and introduce the children to colours through shadows and light tables. During the workshop, children meet Henry the Hedgehog, who is seeing the colours of the yellow sun and green grass for the very first time! Help Henry learn about these new colours using colourful shadows and shapes.

Colouring with Chemistry – Interactive Workshop
Description: Prepare to be amazed by the colourful world of chemistry. Be an artist for the day and create your own designs, using no paint, just common household chemicals!
Ages: 5-8
AURA – Musical in the Dark Immersive performance by Teatru Malta
Description: A theatrical performance that immerses the audience in complete darkness. Join Lu’ as she navigates her biggest adventure yet in complete darkness with her two dads, surrounded by the breathtaking starlit planetarium at Esplora. This celebration of life’s complexities will feature live performances on a binaural microphone, transporting you to a world where everything is perfect except for the struggles we face as queer individuals.More information on the performance and purchasing of tickets can be found by visiting Teatru Malta’s official website.
